Have you ever heard of the auspicious Gaharu tree located at Gaharu Tea Valley (Gaharu Technologies) in Simpang Pulai, Perak? If you have not this is my part of stories, a Kisah Benar just for your kind reading and reference only. There was this rumours of some aunties and uncles who had visited the place where this Gaharu tree is planted and upon having to hug the tree you will get good luck. Good luck as in you might strikes lotteries after that.

There’s some one day tour to the place and this auntie (an auntie of my fren) who were a tour guide and she had brought visitors to this place just to have a look and hugged the tree each time she was there. And amazingly she strikes lottery each time she came back. Unbelievable isn’t it?

Of course everyone wants good luck. We went for the first time with our usual gang somewhere back in December 2011 and this year of 2012 we went again with our relatives. Upon hearing the stories of this trees, his mum had organised a day trip to Ipoh for some makan-makan time and also to pay a visit to this tree. On the third day of CNY we started our journey to the destination as early as 7am. We wanted to try out the famous dim sum at Foh San but it was too crowded we ended up at one of the kopitiam around the corner.

The view of the Gaharu plantation.

We reached the Gaharu Tea Valley at around 10.30am and paid for the tickets of RM10 per person for the van ride to the Gaharu plantation. The tour guide this time was friendly and gave detail introduction of the tree. Not wasting the time everyone went to the gaharu tree and gave it a BIG hug.

The Auspicious Gaharu Tree

Accordingly everyone make a wish upon hugging the tree. After a short trip and introduction of the Gaharu Technology Plantation we head back to the entrance.

Gaharu tea eggs and ice-cream truck

I like the Gaharu Ice Cream sold via a small truck. They also sells Gaharu tea eggs and its nice too! Hahaha…I know, the truck had cotton candy and pop corn but its selling something else.

Gaharu for Sale

There are also some products being sold such as tea, gaharu fragrant oil, instant noodles with gaharu tea flavours and etc. Do you know who is Baki, he was there once upon a time too. We had a journey of food and adventure with the aunties and uncles who enjoyed themselves a lot.

Baki went to hug the tree too.

Well, we were informed the next day that all the aunties and uncle strikes lottery and the eldest uncle of my hubby even strikes the first prize. Unfortunately both us did not won any prizes. Perhaps its becuz we ask for something else, if you know what it is. (let’s keep it a secret for now)

thanks for dropping by Henry. Haha…most ppl want go cuz its believed to be auspicious and lucky after hugging it. The tree is indeed expensive as it takes long long time before it can be used for making teas and such. Whether protected or not that I’m not really sure.
